An ongoing partnership: we maintain and upgrade Furman’s 988 kW ground mount. Greenville, SC.
Detail Solar has done several jobs for Furman University, and several are still open. We maintain and upgrade its 988 kW ground-mount system. It is a large open array delivering three-phase power straight into the university’s electrical infrastructure.
Big ground arrays with central inverters have more parts that can fail and long high-voltage wiring runs. With microinverters, each panel makes its own AC power and reports on its own, so one problem panel does not take down the rest.
We led the upgrade to Enphase IQ9 microinverters. Each panel now converts to AC where it sits, so the high-voltage DC runs are gone.
Output is native 480V 3-phase, every panel is monitored on its own, and the equipment is made in the United States, which made the upgrade eligible under the university’s Buy America Act procurement guidelines.
